July 11: Mixed blessings: Will (Power) Jones can't cope with the boys' fitness, so makes up a lame excuse for not joining us:
I'm going to have to pull out of this years tour I'm afraid, sorry for the short notice but I only just found out that I qualified for the ITU Triathlon World Championship final in Beijing, so I'll be representing Britain out there in the Age group final of the Sprint Triathlon.
So at least we'll be spared the sight of someone drifting carelessly past us all on a 16% gradient in top gear with one hand on a camera and the other holding his water bottle..
Go Will, do us proud.
The boys are going up, again. Follow the stupidity here as they conquer 20,000 metres of hell in a week. Or not; we'll find out. September 3 - 10 2011.
Le Route. Oh.

What it is all about
1910: At the top of the Aubisque, Desgrange (the founder of the Tour De France) and the other officials awaited the first riders. It was Lapize who emerged first, his face a perfect rictus of agony. On the stage’s final climb and with the pain of the Tourmalet still in his legs, it was at that moment that Lapize uttered the words for which he would become famous: “Vous ĂȘtes des assassins!”
